From her personal interests and passions to her excitement about the city, Sabrina’s story is a testament to finding joy in new experiences and connections.

In a recent conversation, Sabrina opened up about her favorite activities, what drew her to Greenville, and the surprises she’s encountered since moving here. Let’s dive into what makes Sabrina’s new chapter so special and discover what she loves most about her new home.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

Sabrina: “In my free time, I enjoy reading. I also love hosting game nights. I'm really excited about the art scene here, so visiting galleries is on my list, along with trying out new restaurants. I love to eat, and Italian food is definitely my favorite. I've been really happy with Indaco; their dishes are delicious, especially the zucchini.”

Q: What are you looking forward to most now that you're living in Greenville?

Sabrina: “I'm looking forward to spending more time with my family. Being closer to them is a huge plus. I'm also excited to explore the hiking trails around here, especially the Swamp Rabbit Trail since we're right downtown at the salon. And, of course, the weather—it's much more tolerable here compared to where I was before.”

Q: Why did you move to Greenville?

Sabrina: “I moved to Greenville to be closer to my family. I’ve moved all over the place—let me list them for you! I was born in Germany, where my mom’s family is all based, split between Germany and Italy. We lived there until I was five, and then I grew up primarily in Southern Connecticut, right outside Manhattan. I went to college in New Jersey, then lived in North Carolina, Texas (outside of Austin), Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., and eventually, Nashville. I was in Nashville for almost 10 years, which was a big deal for me because I had never lived anywhere that long in my whole life. It was the first time I really discovered how nice it was to have roots somewhere.

But I’m really close with my family, and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how quickly time is flying by—my niece and nephew are growing up, and my parents are getting older. I didn’t want to miss out on those moments. I knew that once I moved here, this would be my last move. If you had asked me 10 years ago, I probably wouldn’t have considered Greenville, but the city has developed so much—it’s a really cool place to live. Now, I get to enjoy the growth of Greenville and spend time with my family, all in the same space.”

Q: What is your favorite part of Greenville?

Sabrina: “My favorite part of Greenville so far is how well they maintain the green spaces around the city and how much people enjoy them. Since the salon is downtown and right on the trail, I see it all the time—people really seem to love the parks and the trail. Beyond that, I love how invested people are in the community, whether it’s through being active outdoors or shopping local. It's so great to see that level of community involvement.

It’s fun to witness all the changes and feel more invested in them. Greenville is small enough that you can really have an impact here. It’s not like being in a giant city where you might feel like, ‘I’m just one person, what can I do?’ Here, you can truly affect the community and the entire city.

Another thing I really appreciate is that because of companies like BMW and Michelin, Greenville, even though it's in the South, has a pretty international vibe. This influences how people live here; there's more of a European mentality where it’s important to be outside, enjoy fresh air, and have good food. I think that makes the city even more welcoming and interesting.”

Q: What’s been the biggest surprise?

Sabrina: “I think the biggest surprise has been how international Greenville is. I knew that companies like BMW and Michelin were here, but I didn’t realize just how many international people are coming into the salon. It’s not just that these companies are based here—it's the fact that we get to interact with people from all over the world in the salon, and I think that’s really cool. That was a big surprise for me.

Another thing that surprised me is how much is going on here. There's always something happening, but what really surprised me, and in the best way, is the art scene. I was so pleasantly surprised and happy about the galleries and the events with the Metropolitan Arts Council. That was probably the most pleasant surprise because I really enjoy that kind of stuff, and the fact that they’re pretty active here is really cool.”
